Revolutionizing Multifunctionality.

HPK is built upon the design principle of multifunctionality. Knives and blades have traditionally been one-trick-ponies when it comes to outdoor sports, and thus have been relegated to a paper-thin blades on multi-tools, or not carried at all.

I believe that a tough, re-sharpenable, full handled knife is essential for both emergency use and for quality of life in the backcountry.

All HPK knives will serve you not only as a blade, but will also incorporate useful and creative solutions for outdoor tasks. Never again will you curse the grams you allocated for a knife that lives its life tucked away in the brain of your pack.

For example, the ULTRALIGHT features a proprietary pot lifter notch at the base of the handle. The idea of the notch came to me on a backpacking trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I found that the handles on my cup got scalding hot every time I used my stove, so hot that I couldn't remove it with my hand. I tried to wrap my fleece around my hand, but realized that would mean a handle shaped hole in my sleeve and melted plastic.

I resolved to leave it on the stove until cool, but this made dinnertime quite long, as my buddies also had to boil water.

The sketches began in the tent last night, and a few years later "The Notch" was born! Now red hot titanium cups can be set on the ground to cool in campsites everywhere.
